Thinkin' Outloud...

I'd like to start off the weekend by saying Congratulations to Marianne. She is now working at the Concord Corrections Jail, Penitentiary, home of the bad people, whatever you call it. She is officially a bad ass now. I'm proud of you.

Watch out for flying jizz, chica.

I have started watching Survivor and I'm very excited about it. I watched the first episode and it was very interesting because I guess this time all the contestants have to "Survive" with only the clothing on their backs...etc. What I mean by this is, I guess in previous competitions the contestants were allowed to bring some personal effects, clothes, etc. with them (which I thought was stupid - the show is about surviving for chrissakes). This time the contestants jumped off a boat into the ocean with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Some women wore nice dresses. Two men wore suits. However, the host allowed them to bring their sneakers they had packed with them which is only fair, I guess. This show has got me all giddy that I even cheered out loud as I watched it.

Thinkin' Outloud...

Sunday, Sean and I got two baby red eared sliders. They are very cute and very special to me. Especially the one I've named Mango.
I picked Mango because he was the tiniest one in the bunch. He was also looking right at me. When we took him home, I noticed he had a sharp thingie under his nose...I thought it was a birth defect or something 'till I realized it was a little horn baby turtles have cause they need it to break out of its shell.

Well anyway, today was a very long sad day for me...
We've kept the baby turtles seperated from Frodo & Gamera at night because we don't know what would happen to the babies.
We've put them into the tank with the bigger turtles during the day for basking time but we made sure to keep an eye on them.
Today, Sean had put them in the big tank with the other two but had left for his Tuesday game of Earthdawn with friends...I guess he thought I'd be keeping an eye on them but I went about the house cleaning and did laundry and forgot the babies were in the big tank. About an hour after Sean had left, I had remembered the turtles were in the tank and I went to check on the two when I realized one was missing. I saw it stuck to the filter pump which is kinda normal because usually they swim up to it and their shell gets suctioned to it but they seem to like it - and are able to swim away from it. This time, Mango had gotten stuck to the filter but something didn't look right, he looked limp.
I grabbed him out of the tank and he looked dead. Most of his toe nails and chunks of his paws were bitten off...The first thing I thought to do was give it turtle C.P.R...
This is where you pull it's head out all the way...tilt the turtle head first, down...open it's mouth and let the excess water drip out...you then take it's front paws and pull as far as they can go then push back in...
The next thing I knew, Mango had opened his mouth on his own and started moving. I didn't think it would work! I thought that maybe he was under water too long and didn't have a breath left in his body. He's very badly torn up, though. He can't open one of his eyes and all his paws are bitten up. His little horn under his nose was ripped off too. :(
I felt so awful and I hope he lives. We have to keep him warm and dry right now.
